On our penultimate day in Paris we took the RER (train) to Charles de Gaulle airport. Apparently there was an accident somewhere along the line and we were obliged to get off the train at the Aulnay Sous Bois stop, quite a ways away from the airport.

This picture is lots people waiting to catch the special buses that would take us to the airport. N eed I mention that we missed our flight?

After getting home I read in a tourist pamphlet the recommendation that I should avoid taking the RER to the airport if I wanted to be sure of catching my flight. Sound advice. Taking the RER from the airport is probably safe as the hotel you are staying at that night is not likely to leave Paris without you aboard should you arrive late.
